Swallow Evaluation

We are the only private practice in Stuart, Florida that provides Flexible Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES) to get a direct view of your throat muscles as you swallow.

A woman in pink scrubs is smiling as she draws blood from an older woman sitting in a chair, who is wearing a white medical gown and has a humorous red and white paper covering her lap with a message that says, 'Yummy! Delicious.'

Here’s how it works:

During the FEES, a small (~3mm), flexible scope is passed through your nose and into your throat while you eat and drink. To make sure you’re comfortable throughout the entire swallowing test, you’ll receive a lubricant  gel so it easily passes. The test itself usually lasts 10 minutes. Once we’ve evaluated your swallowing, we’ll sit down with you to discuss the findings. Together, we’ll create a plan to help you return to your favorite foods and drinks!
