A clinical swallowing evaluation followed by a FEES (Flexible Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing) will determine your swallowing program for an improved ability to eat the foods and drinks you enjoy. The FEES endoscopy will determine the nature or cause of your swallowing problem.

The McNeill Dysphagia Therapy Program (MDTP)

The McNeill Dysphagia Therapy Program is a systematic therapy swallowing program which focuses on hierarchal, simple swallowing techniques as an exercise.  MDTP focuses on the principle of exercise physiology and includes homework that facilitates a return to a more normal eating routine. A thorough medical history and evaluation will be completed prior to initiating therapy.

 The program entails a minimum of 15 one-hour sessions, preferably in 3-4 weeks for high intensity repetition and practice to regain your swallowing pattern to enjoy a wider array of food and drinks.
